Rago’s Christopher Wise at the Wilmington Coin Club Show
2 February 2016
The Wilmington Coin Club hosted its annual Coin Club Show on Jan 14-16 at the Nur Shine Temple in New Castle, Delaware. Director of Rago’s Great Estates Department and numismatist at large, Christopher Wise, was on hand for all three days.
From his posting at Booth #11, Chris had the opportunity to meet and greet members of the local Delaware coin collecting community, as well as established dealers. In a collecting environment where most deals are still made over a handshake, this kind of ”face-to-face” interaction is not just prudent; it’s a requisite.
“Unlike most things in the world,” Chris says, “The deal-making of coin and currency collectors is distinctly ‘old school’. They prefer to do business with someone they can meet in person and learn to trust, as opposed to finding someone on the internet.”
While Chris has been an avid coin collector for most of his life, Rago Arts and Auction Center is a relative newcomer to the numismatic world, having only hosted dedicated coin and currency auctions for the past four years. Despite the breadth of knowledge and expertise that Chris and his department bring to the table, Rago is still seen by many established collectors as the ‘new kid on the block’. Chris is trying to change that.
“We are here to bring the unique Rago brand to the coin world. We pride ourselves on conducting business with honor and integrity. I have the know-how to get good value for coins and currency at auction and a kid’s enthusiasm for rare numismatic treasures.”
Christopher Wise joined Rago in 2006. He began buying and selling antique coins, currency, firearms, and silver in his early twenties and is a member of The Silver Society
Chris, like many of the specialists here at Rago, can be seen frequently at conventions, conferences, galleries, and appraisal events throughout the country. To see for a full listing of upcoming appearances by Chris and other Rago specialists, check our online calendar
