Katherine Van Dell is the Specialist in the Jewelry department. A graduate of The Tyler School of Art, she expounded upon what was an inborn penchant to create and celebrate artwork as a Fine Arts major, focusing specifically on metal work, bench craft, and Art History in her undergraduate studies. Having discovered auction as a happy intersection of these interests, Katherine began her career at Freeman’s in Philadelphia in 2011, where she managed the Freeman’s Main Line Office, and worked closely with the jewelry department. Katherine joined Rago’s in September of 2013 and has been instrumental in the department’s continued growth with the addition of two new jewelry auctions in 2014. As a specialist, Katherine is constantly informed by her understanding of basic construction, aesthetics and historical context. She is a member of the American Society of Jewelry Historians and a candidate for the Graduate Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America.
